Equal opportunities

The GO Group is committed to promoting equal opportunities in every aspect of its work environment.  Our Equal Opportunities Policy affirms our commitment to ensuring that all employees and job applicants are offered equal opportunities irrespective of their sex, marital status, race, religion, ethnic or national origin, sexual orientation, disability or age.

RECRUITMENT AND SELECTION

The GO Group applies its Equal Opportunities Policy through a clear recruitment and selection process.  This ensures:

  • A clear explanation of the job through a detailed job description.
  • A clear person specification outlining skills and abilities necessary for the job.
  • Selection criteria clearly outlined prior to application/interview.
  • Minimum of two people involved in the selection process.
  • Those involved in the selection process to be knowledgeable in interview techniques and equal opportunity legislation.

PROMOTION AND JOB OPPORTUNITIES

The GO Group seeks to promote from within where feasible.  To this end, the following are in place:

  • All jobs are advertised internally by e-mail.
  • All candidates are subject to the same selection process for a post.
  • If unsuccessful, all internal candidates should be offered feedback on why they were not successful.

TRAINING AND DEVELOPMENT

The GO group has a robust Performance Management System in place to help staff to identify training and development needs.  This is outlined in Section 4.1 (Training and Development Policy).

INDUCTION

New employees to the company, and those transferring within the company to a new role, will receive a full induction programme. This aims to:

  • Introduce new employees to the people within the GO Group.
  • Ensure they are familiar with the company's policies, rules and standards required.
  • Make sure they are clear about the job and what is expected of them.
  • Ensure they are equipped with the skills and information required to do their job effectively.

Following an initial period in the role (approximately 6 weeks), a review will take place between the employee and their manager to review progress and put in place any further training and/or information needs.
