GO GROUP ENVIRONMENTAL POLICY – REVISED AUGUST 2008
GO is committed to environmental sustainability both in the way we operate and in dissemination of good practice to our client companies. We are committed to continuous improvement of this policy and to annual reviews.
We recognise the need to comply with all relevant UK environmental legislation as a minimum level of performance. Over and above that, we are committed to doing as much as we can to minimise our environmental impact through actions leading to energy conservation, waste minimisation, and environmentally friendly waste disposal practices within our workplaces.
We implement this policy through various measures:
- We encourage awareness of environmental issues among our staff through the GO Greener staff environmental team and by publicising its activities in our regular staff newsletters
- We take full account of environmental impact in our business plans and strategies
- We employ a system of smart central purchasing to ensure our stock is sufficient only for current needs
- We seek to reduce our carbon footprint through travel by upgrading our car fleet to the highest practicable environmental standards. In the 18 month period to August 2008, we have saved 9 tons of carbon annually
- We recycle all ink and toner cartridges used in our printers and copiers
- We recycle scrap paper including the re-use of redundant headed notepaper
- We employ as standard, double side printing of documents
- We continually strive to improve efficiency in our usage of electricity in powering heating, lighting and computer networks
- We control and minimise our water usage through water meters wherever possible
- We always seek to resell or give away for re-use our redundant furniture, office and computer equipment
- We disseminate good environmental practice and adherence to relevant environmental legislation through the way we work with client organisations; environmental issues are raised as part of the business development support process.
